Mandy invited us to a "Horse Pull" over in Frances, Utah a couple of weeks ago.
Bruce, Erin, and I had never seen one.
Mandy goes all the time.
After having seen one, I highly recommend it. Mandy's grandpa's brother had a team entered. They have lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight teams, I could be wrong but I think they are Belgian horses.
First a tractor brings out theses huge cement blocks that weigh 1000 lbs each, and sets it on a metal sled.
A guy sitting on the front of the sled holds the reins and the horses have to pull the sled with the blocks 20 feet. They keep adding blocks until a team no longer can pull it 20 feet. When this happens they measure just how far the team went and thats there score.
Each team gets to try it twice on each weight, if they don't go the full 20 on the first try. So if a team pulled it 4 ft 10inches and the next one did 5 ft. The one with 5ft wins.
Erin, Bruce and Mckai. It's alot of fun to watch. The horses or so strong you can see how well they work together
The Horses really have to work together, to get the sled to go. If one starts before the other they may go out of bounds or not pull as far. It was weird but it was almost like they could hear the harness click onto the sled, cause they were off and pullin.
